El Dorado's own Fair Play AVA boasts some truly special terroir, with high elevations and extremely well-drained decomposed granite soils perched at the southern end of the county. Petite Sirah is a widely planted varietal throughout Fair Play, and while the traditional temptation has been to lean into its hedonistic concentration, unwieldy tannins and intense, inky color, we believed it had the potential to be a lovable, elegant expressor of our terroir, too. By showing intentionality in the vineyard and restraint in the cellar, we've crafted a Petite Sirah that stands apart from the crowd. Sierra Moon Vineyard is the ideal source for this style, cresting a hilltop with south-facing exposure, tempered by cool nights and dry, warm summer days. 

The nose is vibrantly fruity with abundant notes of raspberry and blackcurrant and subtle tones of espresso and pine sap in the background. Across the palate, it is luscious and lively, summer-berry-laden and framed with integrated, pillowy tannins that remain present without overwhelming the charming character of the wine. The 2022 Sierra Moon Vineyard Petite Sirah is meant to please the senses on any occasion, and will surely deliver for years to come.
